On Monday, May 2, 2016 the Mendocino Historic Review Board gave its first ever approval for residential solar in the village of Mendocino.
[Previously in 2014, MHRB approved a commercial solar application by Harvest at Mendosa’s.]
There was some question at the MHRB meeting if MHRB ‘approval’ was required, because, according to the Mendocino Beacon’s report, the County informed the Board that the 2004 California Solar Rights Act supersedes the power of the MHRB to deny an application for solar.
However, the MHRB did take a vote to approve the application by town resident Michael St. John. With its consideration and approval of Mr. St. John’s solar plans, the MHRB has cleared the path forward for the acceptable installation of solar in the Mendocino village.
With this development, Mendocino Solar Service will now begin providing solar evaluations for residents and businesses in the Mendocino village interested in making the switch to solar ener
