Before considering how solar might work for you, you’ll want to know what you’re spending now on electricity, and why.
The first step we take when potential new customers inquire about solar is to ask them about their last 12 months of PG&E bills.
The easiest way we’ve found to gather this information is to have our potential customers sign a PG&E release form. We then request copies of the past 12 months of billing, and create a simple spreadsheet comparing monthly usage, and average usage over the prior 12 months.
Knowing your electrical needs is key for figuring out what type of a solar system you need, and how big it will need to be. Consider also any changes you’re planning that could impact your power use.
Did you hope to add an office or work space on to your property? Are you considering adding a radiant heated floor, or mothballing your old bill-raising hot tub? Would you like to reduce propane bills and switch some of your appliances to electric? Are you interested in getting an electric car?
Seed #1: Review your 12 months history with PG&E: what are you paying each month, and what is the average for the past 12 months? Consider specific changes you’re planning that could impact your energy usage.
