Under a law set to expire at the end of 2016, customers who install a new home solar system receive a 30% Federal Tax Credit. There is no upper limit on the credit (the more you invest in your system, the bigger the credit). Tax credits are also available for businesses.
The Solar Investment Tax Credit has been a huge part of the solar solution, making it possible for solar system owners to more quickly realize financial benefit from converting to solar.
While efforts to extend this tax credit are onging, there is no assurance the credit will be available after December 31, 2016.
