RACING TO ZERO: IN PURSUIT OF ZERO WASTE
SHOWING FRIDAY, MAY 29 – 3:00 PM.
VENUE: FESTIVAL TENT, MENDOCINO.
Directed by: Christopher Beaver; Q&A with filmmaker after screening
Garbage, disappearing natural resources, destroyed oceans…the stakes are higher than ever. Is there anything that we, individually, can still do about it?
Racing to Zero presents new solutions to these global problems. Three years ago the mayor of San Francisco pledged to achieve zero waste by 2020. Racing to Zero follows San Francisco’s trail of trash behind-the-scenes to track the possibility and makes a great discovery. The simple substitution of the word RESOURCE for the word GARBAGE transformed a culture, producing a wealth of new industries, and an intriguing and surprising race to zero.
Official Selection, Mill Valley Film Festival; Official Selection, Columbus International Film and Video Festival. 59 min.
