CaliforniaFIRST financing recently became available for residents of the city of Fort Bragg. A similar PACE program will start countywide in 2015.
The CaliforniaFIRST Program is a Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing program for residential and commercial properties. The program allows property owners to finance the installation of energy and water improvements on homes or businesses through the issuance of a municipal bond, and pay the amount back as a line item on their property tax bill.
CaliforniaFIRST financing is unique because it is not a loan: PACE financing doesn’t rely on your credit rating, it does not tie up the equity in your home, and you don’t need to put any money down. Long term, fixed interest rates also may help consumers with financial planning.
