There are plenty of factoids to demonstrate how far solar has come in the past 20 years.
Here’s a recent news flash that caught our attention:
According to a recent email from CREDO Action: “[In June 2014] California shattered the state record for solar power production when 4767 megawatts were fed into the grid in one day – that’s enough energy to power almost 4 million homes!”
And, keep in mind that this only includes solar power plants; total solar production in California is actually even larger if you include solar energy created by netmetering, which alows solar powered homes to run their energy meter backwards during sunny days and times of high solar production, and actually sell excess power to PG&E.
