Mendocino Solar Service is proud to sponsor the Mendocino Film Festival’s screening of Gasland II, on Saturday, May 31 at 10am in the Festival tent. In this follow-up to his Oscar®-nominated film Gasland, filmmaker Josh Fox takes a deeper look at the dangers of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, the controversial method of extracting natural gas and oil. The film argues that the gas industry’s portrayal of natural gas as a clean and safe alternative to oil is a myth and that fracked wells inevitably leak over time, contaminating water and air, hurting families, and endangering the earth’s climate with methane, a potent greenhouse gas. In addition, the film explores how the powerful oil and gas industries are, in Fox’s words, “contaminating our democracy.” Executive produced by Debra Winger.

There will be a Q&A after screening hosted by Richard Heinberg of the Post
